Submit yourself one to another in the fear of God Eph (5: 21) Submission is one of the fundamental principles of Christianity, demonstrated and testified by the author and finisher of our faith, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His life in this world as a man was a life of humility, humbleness, and submission to the perfect and complete will of the Father. Submission is the key to all the Kingdom blessings. The scripture clearly reveals us the blueprint of a life of submission and blessing. Children must be submissive to their parents as it is a commandment to be blessed of God (Eph 6:1). Likewise, parents are commanded to be gentle to their children, while disciplining and training them. In raising and developing the next generation for the Lord, parents should do everything in the spirit of meekness and gentleness, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Wives are instructed to be submissive to their husbands to be blessed. Likewise, husbands are asked to be nurturing, caring and cherishing to their wives as Christ loves the church. Members of the church are asked to live in unity and thereby bringing harmony, allowing the Holy Spirit to do his perfect work. The Holy Spirit is very gentle in His approach. He doesnt push His agenda on His people. He needs an atmosphere of unity and harmony to pour His power upon. Submission to the Lord and to one another is the only way to create an atmosphere for unity and harmony in the church. Lets not forget, our greatest example is Jesus Christ himself. The scripture says Jesus emptied himself of all but love. He submitted himself to the death of the cross in obedience to His Father to fulfill the eternal purpose of God (Phil 2:8). In the Garden of Gethsemane we see Him struggle within Himself, fighting with his flesh, His own humanity. We read that in the garden, during His encounter with God, His sweat became huge droplets of blood. We can see here the power of self and how we have to struggle to give it up in order that the Power of God can flow through us. We see that submission of the flesh to the will of God is the key to opening Gods power and blessings in our lives. Submission doesnt come naturally. It is a deliberate choice of the will. It is a daily process. It is letting go of self and letting God be God in our lives. So lets put away all our selfish, disobedient, rebellious spirits by submission to Gods will. Let us exchange our self with His peace, which passes all understanding, love, and the spirit of meekness and humility. For we are overcomers in Christ. A
beautiful example of submission of will is seen in the life of the
Patriach of our faith Abraham. After long years of believing and receiving
a son from God through faith Abraham was asked of God to give up his only
son Isaac. Isaac means laughter..He was the Abraham and Sarahs joy and
laughter .Humanly speaking it was impossible to give up the Joy of his
life. Thats when Abraham had to rely on his Faith., his relation with God
and his previous experience with the Almighty. Abraham realized that God
was a God that brings to being those things that are not as though they
were. Romans 4:17. His love and faith in God led to his obedience to God
in submission to the will of God.So we see here by example of Abraham that
God will also test our faith too. So today Can we really do this act of submission by our ownself. The answer is a big No. If we are relying on our own self or flesh we cant make it. In John 6:63 Jesus says Human effort accomplishes nothing. It is the Spirit that giveth life and His word is both spirit and life. The only way to overcome situations we face is by abiding in the Word. (John 15 :9,10,11) If we abide in Him and His word abides in us ,well be able to overcome the world, flesh and devil. For Vicory is ours in Christ Jesus. Amen . So today lets say together that Greater is the one in me than the one in the world, And that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Submission is God will for me. And as I submit to the will of God, God will strengthen me to do His will in and through me for His Glory . |
