The Boy who gave his lunch
to Jesus.
Story passage Ref: Luke 9:10-17.
Memory Verse: It is more blessed to give than to
receive. Acts 20:35.
Have you given anyone
anything of your own, candy or cookie to your friends or siblings? Jesus said
that it is more blessed to give than to receive. it means that giving makes you
happier than receiving. When we give we serve God. Today we are going to learn
about a boy who served God.
The news about Jesus spread
all over Galilee, how he made the blind see, the deaf hear and the cripple walk.
So people came from far away to see Jesus and hear him teach. But mostly wanted
to see the miracles he performed.
In Galilee there was a
boy who had heard this news, and he too, wanted to see Jesus. One day he heard
that Jesus was holding a meeting somewhere by the lake of Galilee, not far from
his home. He asked his mother that if he can go to the meeting where Jesus
was preaching to a large crowd. his mother agrees and decided to give lunch to
the boy, if the Boy feels hungry he can listen while eating so she packed five
loaves of bread and two roasted fishes In a bag to eat.
AT THE
MEETING:-
The boy could see the large
crowds of people from afar; there were about five thousand men plus women and
children. The boy never had seen such a crowd of people before. However, he
wanted to see Jesus as close up as possible. At first he only heard his voice.
Then he forced his way through the crowd and finally got a good place to sit
near Jesus.
The meeting went on for
hours. Jesus spoke of the kingdom of God, and he healed all who were sick. The
boy saw many miracles. When the evening came the disciples went to Jesus. And
said to him. “Send the crowd away that they may go into the town and get food to
eat.” But Jesus said to them “you give them something to eat” The boy know that
there were no shops nearby perhaps they did not have money either disciple
answered and said Eight months wages would not buy enough bread for each one to
have a bite!
Then the boy remembered his
bag of food, the five loaves of bread and the two fish. He did not have courage
to go to Jesus. Then he saw one of the disciples, Andrew who seemed to be a
gentle man, the boy went to him, touched his clothes and showed him his bread
and fish. Andrew took the boys lunch and gave it to Jesus Now Jesus told his
disciples “Have the people sit down!
The boy looked at Jesus, surprised.
What was Jesus going to do now? The disciples made the people sit down
in the groups of fifty. The boy wondered how Jesus was going to feed them, for
those five loaves of bread would not be enough for all of them. His eyes were
fixed on Jesus when he took the bread and the fish he blessed them. Then Jesus
broke the bread into pieces and gave them to his disciples to distribute to the
crowd. Also the boy got his share though he almost forgot to eat it because of
his excitement. After the people finished eating Jesus ordered the disciples to
gather the leftovers. The boy was even surprised when he saw that they filled
twelve baskets. All these people were fed by this five loaves and two fishes.
“When mother hears of this she will not believe it!” And what more important and
wonderful is he had been able to help Jesus to perform this
miracle.
Dear children ,we too can
serve God by giving what we have. Jesus Wants us to give ourselves to him so
that he can use us in his work. In this way we can bring joy and blessings to
many people.
