NO WANT

There are many things we ought to be grateful to God for. He has given us good health. He has protected us from calamities. Blessed be the Lord, "Who daily loeadeth us with benefits." (Ps. 68:19) One blessing we ought to thank God for with grateful hearts is that He has given us all we need and we do not lack anything that matters.

The Lord Jesus toward the end of His earthly ministry said to His disciples, " When I sent you without purse and scrip and shoes, lacked ye anything? And they said, Nothing." (Luke 21:35) Those who have trusted the Lord Jesus will lack nothing. John Newton wrote in his hymn, "Through many dangers and toils, I have already come, 'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far and grace will lead me home."

A Shepherd's provision: David who was a good shepherd himself before he became king of Israel, spoke of God, the greater Shepherd, "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want." (Ps. 23:1) He also said in Psalm 34:9,10, " O fear the Lord, ye His saints, for there is no want to them that fear Him. The young lions do lack and suffer hunger but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing." In the animal kingdom, there may be lack of supplies and needs but those who seek the Lord will not be in want. The psalmist when he reached an old age had this testimony, " I have been young and now I am old, yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken or nor his seed begging bread." (Ps. 37:25)

His sufficiency: The apostle Paul said, "My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Phil. 4:19) Do you believe God will supply all your need? That is precisely what is promised. The supply of our need cannot be doubted. Paul's testimony is, "Our sufficiency is of God." (2Cor. 3:5) He "having all sufficiency in all things," will abound toward us in grace. (2Cor. 9:8) He knows our need even before we ask Him. (Matt. 6:8,32) He is gracious to meet our needs. Our tribute to Him now and to the end of our lives will be that we lacked nothing!
